| A few months ago, I sat on the phone with a client named Jessie. Jessie had been grinding for over a year—posting content, running ads, launching offer after offer. But still… crickets. No steady sales. No loyal audience. Just burnout and second-guessing. She told me, “I feel like I’m doing everything right, but nothing’s sticking.” So I asked her, “What’s your actual goal right now?” She paused.“…To grow?” And that’s when I finally understood the problem. “So, you like food?” I sarcastically replied and explained my point. Here’s the truth: vague goals lead to vague results. So we rewrote her approach using the S.M.A.R.T. goal framework. If you didn’t check out my previous blog about S.M.A.R.T. goals, here’s a quick breakdown: S – Specific: What exactly do you want to achieve? M – Measurable: How will you track your progress? A – Achievable: Is this realistic based on your resources? R – Relevant: Does it align with your overall business goals? T – Time-bound: What’s the deadline? Together, we created one clear goal: “Get 500 new email subscribers in 60 days from dog mom’s who have large breed dogs.” Boom. Now we had direction. Next, we identified exactly who that goal was for— Not “everyone.” Not “whoever follows me.” And in this case, it wasn’t even anyone with a dog. But large-breed dog mom’s looking for working dog fashion. And finally, we built one perfect offer just for them. Not five different products, though her gallery is amazingly packed with unique pieces. Just one valuable, relevant, starting point. (aka her most popular item) Here’s what happened next: *She hit her subscriber goal 2 weeks early *She had the biggest pre-launch she could have dreamed of *And her average customer order value went up 30% All because she stopped chasing “more”… and focused on alignment. A S.M.A.R.T. goal. A clearly defined audience One offer designed just for them. Now you can see the power of setting up a few things before you even begin to email your list. That’s how you build a marketing foundation that doesn’t burn you out—it builds you up. If your business feels stuck or scattered, try starting here. Set one S.M.A.R.T. goal. Get crystal clear on who it’s for. Then build one perfect offer to serve them.Need help figuring out your first step? Book a call—I’d love to help. |
